I look forward to guiding learning and cheering on student success. Success means students are sparked for life-long learning and they take personal responsibility for being their best. Hard work brings success and pride throughout life.
In order to be successful, students will need the following supplies:
-pencils with erasers
-notebook paper
-planner
Assignments will be written in the planner. Students will keep their math folders in their backpacks, and they must bring them back to class each day. Textbooks will be issued to each student to keep at home until the end of the year. Please let me know if it requires more than 30 minutes on a regular basis to finish assignments at home.
Grades will be recorded in math folders so that students can monitor their averages. Points will be deducted from late work unless the student was absent, and assignments will not be accepted more than a week late. Students should always do their best and be evaluated by the work assigned, so please do not ask for extra credit.
-Be respectful.
-Be prepared.
[All students need a safe, orderly environment to be successful. Mature students accept consequences for their actions respectfully and learn from their mistakes.]
Thank you for setting high expectations for cooperation and respect at school, because that is what sets Elkhart apart. We also need parents to require students to be personally responsible for learning and maintaining acceptable grades.
TAKS is the test used to evaluate the math skills of all eighth-grade students in Texas. It is important for our students to pass this test to be promoted to ninth grade. They will need to strive to master the skills and the strategies. We're all on the same team for student success in life, where hard work pays off.
